  3. "Member" means a user who has created an account with an email address or a Google, Apple, or Kakao account.
  4. "Paid Services" means subscriptions, one-time purchases, and other features you pay for.

  1. We post these Terms in the apps and on a web page we designate.
  2. We may change these Terms to the extent permitted by law.
  3. We will announce changes in the apps at least 7 days before they take effect, with the reasons. Changes that are unfavorable to you or otherwise significant will be announced at least 30 days in advance and sent to you by in-app notification or email.
  4. If we clearly tell you that not objecting during this period counts as agreement, and you do not object, you will be deemed to have accepted the change. If you do not agree, you may terminate your agreement with us.
  5. Matters not covered here are governed by applicable Korean laws, including the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions, the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, and the Content Industry Promotion Act.

Chapter 2. Accounts

Article 4 (Creating an account)

  1. Your agreement with us is formed when you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy on the sign-up screen, apply for an account, and we approve it.
  2. You must be at least 14 years old to create an account.
  3. We may refuse an application, or terminate an account later, if:
    1. you used someone else's information;
    2. you provided false information; or
    3. your use was previously restricted for violating these Terms.

Article 5 (Account security)

  1. You are responsible for your account and password, and you may not transfer or lend your account to anyone.
  2. If you learn that your account has been stolen or is being used by someone else, tell us immediately.
  3. Accounts created through social sign-in are also subject to the policies of Google, Apple, or Kakao.
  4. You are responsible for keeping your device secure. The Services may not work properly or securely on jailbroken or rooted devices.

Article 6 (Deleting your account)

  1. You can delete your account at any time in Settings > Delete Account (OpenVocab) or My Page > Delete account (OpenListening).
  2. When you delete your account, your learning data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy and cannot be recovered.
  3. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. You must cancel it separately in the App Store.

Article 7 (Restricting use)

  1. If you violate these Terms or the law, we may issue a warning, suspend your account temporarily, or suspend it permanently, in that order. For serious violations, we may suspend it permanently right away.
  2. We will tell you the reason and duration in advance. In urgent cases, we will tell you without delay after the restriction.
  3. You may object within 14 days of receiving notice. We will review your objection and tell you the result.

Chapter 3. Using the Services

Article 8 (Providing and changing the Services)

  1. The Services are generally available 24 hours a day, every day.
  2. We may add or change features to improve the Services. We will announce significant changes in the apps in advance.
  3. Some features require an internet connection. Data charges outside Wi-Fi, including roaming, are governed by your mobile carrier's terms.
  4. You may need to install updates to keep using the Services. We do not guarantee compatibility with every operating system version.

Article 9 (Interruption and discontinuation)

  1. We may temporarily interrupt the Services for maintenance, equipment failure, natural disasters, or other unavoidable reasons. We will announce scheduled maintenance in advance.
  2. If we discontinue all or part of the Services, we will notify you in the apps and individually at least 30 days in advance.
  3. If we discontinue a Paid Service, we will refund or otherwise compensate you for the remaining paid period.

Article 10 (AI Features)

  1. We use third-party AI services, such as those of Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic, to provide AI Features. Data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
  2. AI-generated results may be inaccurate or incomplete. We do not guarantee their accuracy or completeness, and you should use them only as a learning aid.
  3. You may not enter the following into AI Features:
    1. personal or sensitive information that can identify someone;
    2. content that is illegal or infringes others' rights; or
    3. attempts to misuse or circumvent the AI Features.

Article 11 (Advertising)

  1. We may show ads in the Services. Users of certain Paid Services may see no ads, as described on the purchase screen.
  2. Any dealings you have with third parties through ads are between you and that third party. We are not responsible for them.

Article 12 (Prohibited conduct)

You may not:

  1. use someone else's information or sign up with false information;
  2. copy, modify, or distribute the apps, or attempt to reverse engineer them or extract their source code;
  3. access the Services abnormally or collect content in bulk using automated tools;
  4. use Paid Services fraudulently or abuse the payment system;
  5. interfere with the operation of the Services or infringe our rights or the rights of others; or
  6. use the Services commercially without our permission.

Article 13 (Intellectual property)

  1. All rights in the Services and their content, including word data, audio, design, software, and trademarks, belong to us or their rightful owners.
  2. You may use the Services only for personal learning. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works from them without our permission.
  3. You own the content you create, such as your own word lists. We store and process it only as needed to provide and operate the Services.

Article 14 (Third-party services)

The Services use third-party services such as Google Play services, Firebase, AdMob, and RevenueCat. Their own terms and policies also apply.

Chapter 4. Paid Services

Article 15 (Paid Services and payment)

  1. Basic features are free; some features are offered as Paid Services. Their content, price, and duration are shown on the purchase screen.
  2. Payments are made through the App Store's payment system, under that App Store's policies.
  3. We will announce price changes at least 30 days before they take effect. A period you have already paid for stays at the old price.

Article 16 (Auto-renewing subscriptions)

  1. Subscriptions renew automatically on the same terms at the end of each period, and you are charged through your App Store account.
  2. To stop renewal, cancel in your App Store's subscription settings at least 24 hours before the next billing date.
    • iOS: Settings > your name > Subscriptions
    • Android: Google Play Store > Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions
  3. After you cancel, you can keep using the Paid Service until the end of the period you paid for.
  4. If we offer a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. The purchase screen shows this and the amount charged.

Article 17 (Withdrawal and refunds)

  1. You may withdraw a purchase within 7 days of payment. Under Article 17(2) of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, this may be limited if you have already used the paid feature; we will show this on the purchase screen in advance.
  2. If a Paid Service is defective or differs from how it was described or advertised, you may withdraw within 30 days of learning of it.
  3. Refunds are handled under the refund policy of the App Store you paid through. For Apple App Store purchases, request a refund from Apple. For Google Play purchases, request a refund from Google Play or from us. We will cooperate as needed.
  4. If you could not use a Paid Service because of our fault, we will extend your subscription by that period or refund the corresponding amount.

Article 18 (Purchases by minors)

If a minor under 19 makes a purchase without a legal guardian's consent, the minor or the guardian may cancel it. This may not apply if the minor paid within an allowance permitted by the guardian, or deceived us into believing they were an adult.

Chapter 5. Liability and disputes

Article 19 (Limitation of our liability)

  1. Except in cases of our intent or gross negligence, we are not liable for damage caused by:
    1. force majeure, such as natural disasters, war, or power outages;
    2. causes on your side, such as a dead battery, a poor internet connection, or failure to secure your account;
    3. outages of third-party services, such as mobile carriers or App Stores; or
    4. your use of AI results or learning content for purposes other than learning.

If you cause us damage by violating these Terms or the law, you must compensate us for it.
